Mission Opportunity with Spirit Lake Ministry

There will be a mission trip to a reservation located 8 miles south of Devils Lake, ND.

Work projects include (but are not limited to) light construction work such as building wheelchair ramps and painting houses.

A portion of the mission team will provide a Vacation Bible School experience for the children of the reservation at the Ministry Center.

Anyone who is interested should see Marcie Garringer in the church office for more information and an application to submit by November 14th with a deposit of $100.

Another $400 will be needed by December 21st for a total of $500 per person.

2019 Holy Land Tour

Paul’s 4th Missionary Journey Cruise

Join Dr. R. Allen and Tracey Stewart aboard the Norwegian Jade for 11 days with 2 days in Rome from June 19th – July 2nd, 2019.

Brochures are available in the church office for both Paul’s 4th Missionary Journey Cruise and the 2019 Holy Land Tour.

2018 Commitment Cards Reminder

If you have not turned in your 2018 Commitment Card yet, you can do so by placing it in the offering plate, mailing it, or dropping it by the church office.

 

Christmas Supplies for the Women of Whitworth

Molly Boyd is collecting supplies for the Whitworth Women’s Facility for Christmas.

Due to Security Requirements, only the items specified in the supplies list, located in the overflow table or the table across from the kitchen, are allowed.

The deadline to turn in items is November 30th. Let’s do our part as a church family to share the love of Christ to the Women of Whitworth!

 

UMW Christmas Dinner

All women are invited for a great night celebrating the miracles of Christmas.

There will be a wonderful catered meal, a great program, entertainment, and door prizes.

Tickets will be available in the Carter Gathering Area from November 1st to December 1st. Each ticket costs $15.00 and must be saved for the drawings for prizes.

 

The Living Nativity Wednesday Night Study

Dr. Stewart will lead an Advent study on The Living Nativity – Preparing for Christmas with St. Francis by Larry Peacock on Wednesday Nights. Our next sermon series on Sundays will be based on this study as well.

This is a great book that incorporates narrative, reflection, and prayer into daily meditations.

The book can be ordered online but we also have a few in the church office for $12.00 each.

 

Sojourner’s November Meeting

All Sojourner’s are invited to a meeting at 11:30am in the Fellowship Hall. Please bring a sack lunch. Tea, water, and dessert will be provided.

 

Sojourner’s November Activity

All Sojourner’s are invited to a trip to the Dillard House on Monday, November 12th.

The cost per person is $30.00 and includes lunch, beverage, tax, gratuity, and transportation.

Please make your reservations by calling Beau Swafford at the church office and leave your name and phone number. The deadline for reservations is Wednesday, November 7th. 

We will leave the church at 10:00am. Join us for a fun and relaxing lunch and fellowship.

 

The Red Cross Blood Drive

The Blood Drive for this month will be held on Tuesday, November 20th from 2pm-7pm in the Gym.

Please contact Morene Sokol to make an appointment.

All blood types are needed and can save many of the lives of those in need of transfusions.

Come One, Come All to our annual Boo Bash held in the parking lot behind HFUMC!

There are rides, games, prizes and more! Hotdogs, chips, sodas, and water will be available for all attending. There are many fun activities available, so join us this Wednesday from 6-8pm!

Due to the festivities taking place Wednesday, there will be no Wednesday Night Supper this week. We hope you will join us for a fun-filled night this week instead!

 

Mission Opportunities – Spirit Lake Ministry June 15-21 2019

If you are interested in helping those in need on a Native American Reservation, stop by the church office and pick up an application from Marcie in the church office.

Applications and a $100 deposit are needed by November 14th.

2019 Holy Land Tour

Join Dr. R. Allen Stewart for a special trip touring the ministry of Jesus through Jerusalem and the surrounding areas March 5-12, 2019.

From a trip to visit the oldest functioning church built around the cave revered as the birthplace of Jesus to praying at the Western Wall and sitting on the Teaching Steps where Jesus once taught, there is something educational and engaging to take part in!

Deposits are due soon and the final payment will be due by December 3rd.

We will be having Chicken Alfredo this Wednesday and for our program,

we will be making Gift Bags for Hart County Elementary School Students to be distributed at the holidays. Lots of help is needed to put them together.

Rolling Chefs Menu for Monday, October 29th

Entree Choices (1 per ticket):

  • Parmesan Crusted Chicken – A Fresh Chicken Breast coated with a Panko and Parmesan Cheese Blend, grilled to golden brown and topped with Rolling Chefs signature Asiago Cream Sauce.
  • Country BBQ Chicken Breast – A Grilled Chicken Breast smothered with Provolone, Cheddar, Bacon and peach BBQ sauce.
  • Roasted Pork Loin – A slow roasted Pork Loin that is thinly sliced and served with a pecan and peach chutney sauce.

 

Side Choices (2 per ticket):

  • Roasted Red Potatoes with caramelized onions
  • Vegetable Medley
  • Green Bean Casserole

Tea or Water will be served along with Dessert.

Revival Schedule for October 28th-31st

On Sunday, October 28th, we will have a special guest delivering a sermon for our 9, 10, and 11 o’clock services.

Please join us as we welcome Reverend Ann Mann who has spent time serving in the Savannah Valley Circuit and is now serving at Due West UMC in Marietta, GA.

At 11:00am, we will have our annual Family Day Fall Festival with Games and Bouncy Houses in the Gym with a Trunk or Treat to follow in the parking lot near the Gym.

Afterward, we will have a Chili Cook-off in the Fellowship Hall.

 

On Monday, October 29th, we will have Supper with the Rolling Chefs of Hartwell in the Fellowship Hall at 5:15pm with a visit from Reverend Andrew Chappell and the Youth Band at 6:30pm. 

Reverend Andrew is an Associate Pastor at Northbrook UMC in Roswell, GA and has worked as an intern at Hartwell First several years back.

Tickets for the Rolling Chefs of Hartwell Supper are $12 each and are on sale now through to the 22nd in the Gathering Area on Sundays and Wednesdays and in the church office all other days of the week.

Please see your weekly bulletin for more information on entrees, sides, drinks, and desserts included with your tickets.

 

On Tuesday, October 30th, we will have a covered dish supper at 5:30pm in the Fellowship Hall followed by a visit from Dr. Wyrtzen, a Poet of the Piano, at 6:30pm.

He is from Mansfield, Texas and is a leading musician and statesman in Christian Music.

 

Mission Opportunity – Habitat for Humanity Build

HFUMC will be supporting a local Habitat Build for a family in need on

130 Shoal Creek Rd in Lavonia on Wednesday, October 17th.

Help is needed in a variety of areas and no experience is needed! Just show up with a can-do attitude and a willingness to offer help wherever it is needed. You will be taught all that you need to know.

From June 15-21 in the Summer of 2019, a mission trip to Spirit Lake Ministry in North Dakota will be held.

An informational meeting will be held on Wednesday, October 17th at 7:00pm in the Choir Room.

Anyone interested in going should attend this meeting where we will go over the details of the trip and have applications available.
