Please feel free to bring a side dish and/or dessert to go with the provided food if you are able.

As we get back into our fall schedule, let’s take the time to share in a great meal and lots of fellowship.

Church-Wide Date Night

On Saturday, August 25th at 5:00pm in the Fellowship Hall, 

a short devotion will be given on marriage followed by a personal date night for all couples who wish to attend.

Childcare will be provided to anyone who needs it by our youth ministry at

5pm in the Children’s Area. Food and entertainment will be provided for them!

No Fee is required. However, donations will go towards paying for the food and entertainment provided with any excess of funds going towards the youth ministry.

Please plan to pick-up children by 9pm in the gym.

 

New Tuesday Bible Study

Join Lillian Wysong as she leads a Bible Study on Max Lucado’s Unshakable Hope.

This study begins on Tuesday, September 4th – Tuesday, December 4th and will meet from 10am-Noon in the Church Library.

Study guides are $8.00 each. Please call Lillian at the Church Office and leave a message to sign-up for the class and ordering the book by August 21st.

 

UMW 2018 Christmas Shoe Box Mission Through N. GA Conference

Donations are still needed to buy a few needed items for the shoe boxes and to pay for shipping and handling.

To help us, you may write a check for any amount or sponsor a box for $25.

Please write “Christmas boxes” in the For line of your check and turn in by

Sunday, August 19th.

 

Registrations is open for the 2018 Men’s Retreat October 5-7 in Toccoa

The theme for this year’s men’s retreat is BOLD.

How do we, as men of God, live a life of Boldness in a way that brings glory to God and shares the Good News Gospel of the Bible?

Cost is $134 before September 3rd and $159 after September 3rd.

Deadline for sign up is September 12th.

Sojourners Cruise Payments

Everyone who is signed up for the Sojourners Cruise needs to bring in another

$150 per person by September 10th.

 

Parents of Students Returning/Heading Off To School

Please send the mailing address of any college students or recent High School grads

regardless of weather they stay at home or not.

This is important for the church family to keep in touch with them through Prayer Cards and other forms of encouragement.

New Pictorial Directory September 4th-8th

A lot of new families have joined the church in the past few years.

To help the church family members to know each other better, we are creating a new Pictorial Directory.

To succeed, this directory needs all members and regular attendees to participate by signing up for an appointment time in the Gathering Area outside the Fellowship Hall.

Please sign up by Sunday, September 2nd. 

All families who participate will get a free 8×10 photo and pictorial directory.

Other portraits may be purchased at the time of your session and will be back in time for Christmas.

Please be sure if we have your correct address and phone number.

If your kids have moved away from home, please be sure we have their correct names if they are married and their current addresses.

 

Safety Committee In Need Of Additional Volunteers

All church members are asked to prayerfully consider joining the safety committee as we need to double our volunteers so that each team will serve only 6-7 times a year.

Applications are available in the overflow, the table across from the kitchen and the church office.

Safety is everyone’s business.

Fall Small Group Sign-Ups Coming Soon

There are many opportunities to develop deep rooted relationships with God and each other and Small Groups are a good way to develop those relationships!

Sign-ups will begin on August 12th. Watch your bulletins and mailings for more information on available groups.

 

Pre School 2018-19 School Year

HFUMC Pre School will start on Monday, August 6th for the 3 and 4 year olds

while the 2 year olds will start on Tuesday, August 7th.

Please keep the teachers and students in your prayers as we prepare to have an exciting school year!

There are many ways to support the Pre School including prayers and financial support.

You can give to the Cheryl Haler Memorial Fund to help scholarship those who cannot afford this experience.

Please make your check to the church and designate it for the Cheryl Haler Memorial Fund in the “For” part of your check.

You can also choose to sponsor a child each month for $150.00.

We are asking for donations in the purchase of new playground equipment for the children.

Although we can get a grant for this equipment, we will need more than what we can get in the grant.

You can make a check to the church (designate the “for” section for the Playground) or you may place spare change in any jars placed around the church.

As part of several missions we are participating in, we will be collecting

July is a good month to purchase them as they are on sale now.

Sojourners 5-day, 4-night Cruise January 27th-31st, 2019

There are only 6 cabins available for the cruise!

The total cost of the trip is $519.00 per person.

$150.00 deposit is due by Monday, September 10th.

Sojourners Special Summer Outing

The Sojourners will have a special trip to The Concord Baptist Church in Anderson, SC

for a concert by The Collingsworth Family starting at 7pm (doors open at 6pm).

Cost for the concert includes just a $10 donation.

We will have dinner before the concert at

Golden Corral at 4pm to catch the early bird special which will be

8$ (please include gratuity) which will be all you can eat.

Church bus will leave the parking lot to head there Friday, July 13th at 3pm.
